Open Position – Chief of Police

The Town of Lusk is accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police. This position includes excellent benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, paid vacation, and sick leave. A competitive starting salary is offered, depending on experience and certification. The position includes the performing of professional, administrative, and managerial duties related to planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws as needed to preserve the peace and protect citizen rights and property. Manage police operations and day-to-day community relations, works under the direction of the mayor, and provides general supervision to all department-personnel directly or through subordinate supervisors. Minimum qualifications for education and experience: Shall be eligible for P.O.S.T. peace officer certification; Recommended- graduation from a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in police science, criminology, or some other related field
-OR- six (6) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, with two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity – OR- an equivalent combination of education and experience.
